Whisper & Olsen Banden

Today is a holiday in Denmark and Barbie has been out to entertain at a country fair with Whisper. They were supposed to perform their routine to Olsen Banden, but Whisper can be rather naughty and poor Barbie was not up for the challenge!

It went wrong already when Whisper was supposed to take the stethoscope out of the bag - Barbie got tangled up and was almost strangled in the wire.

Barbie managed to pull herself together and got the safety locker open... Unfortunately Whisper had another trick up his sleeve. Instead of emptying the safe into the bag, he took Barbie and put her in the bag...

He carried a screaming Barbie around the ring before he finished the routine in a beautiful beg. The audience loved the performance, but Barbie was shaken...

Barbie may have to work a bit on her leadership before performing Olsen Banden again!

Meeting Pjerrot

Our dancing friend Barbie with Cookie the Border Collie were one of the 10 teams that had been invited to dance on the main stage in Bakken on Kristi Himmelfartsdag (Ascension Day).

Bakken is the oldest amusement park in the world and it is located in the most attractive countryside area near Copenhagen. To be invited to perform there is a huge honour and Barbie wouldn't have missed it for anything! She really enjoyed it and Cookie was stunning. Barbie was very pleased with their own performance and cheered loudly for the winners Birgitte and Emilie, who performed a pairs routine to a track from Disney's Cinderella.

Barbie loves to mingle with the rich and famous. She is a sucker for celebrities and meeting Pjerrot* really made her day!

*)The year of 1800 saw the arrival of Pjerrot, who went on to become one of the best-loved characters at Bakken. The Pjerrot figure is around 4,000 years old and originally hails from Turkey. The figure gradually reached all parts of Europe and 500 years ago underwent something of a renaissance in the Italian Commedia dell’ Arte, where he appeared as a playful apprentice miller who was hopelessly in love with the beautiful Columbine. The Pjerrot figure also had a large mouth at that time, but whereas today the big lips are painted on, back then the poor artist actually had his mouth cut larger. The first Pjerrot at Bakken was Casorti, the Italian artist, who performed pantomime. Since then, Pjerrot transformed into a tow eating character whom primarily performed magic tricks and puppet theatre. The tradition of the magic tricks and puppet theatre lives on but Pjerrot no longer eats tow. “Far too unhealthy,” explains Bakken’s Pjerrot.

Barbie's first Breed Show

Since there was no dancing going on this weekend, Barbie decided to take Beat the Border Collie to a breed show.

It was her first time in the breed ring and she was not impressed!
It fact it made her think of her good friend Karen, who always says that breed shows are about as interesting as watching paint dry!

Barbie was glad she brought Beat's ball so at least they could do a bit of training. Of course they did not play until after the judging. Barbie did not want to mess Beat's coat up!
